Dog muzzles at a range of prices

A dog muzzle is worn on walks, when travelling, at the vet or at the groomer’s, whenever you need to prevent a bite or stop your dog picking up whatever they find. The range brings together eleven muzzles, almost all in mesh or soft nylon, adjustable, from XS to 3XL depending on the model. To choose well, start with the shape of your dog’s snout and how you’ll use it.

Breathable mesh muzzles

Mesh lets air through, which makes the muzzle lighter to wear:

  • the Breathable Mesh Dog Muzzle, from S to XXL, with a reflective strap for evening walks;
  • the soft adjustable mesh muzzle, washable according to its product page, from XS to XXL, in black, red or blue;
  • the soft adjustable mesh muzzle, from XS to XL, which its product page rates from Dachshund to German Shepherd;
  • the Adjustable Breathable Mesh Dog Muzzle, from S to XXL, the only one whose product page says it lets the dog pant and drink.

Soft nylon anti-bite muzzles

More enclosing, nylon muzzles close around the snout with an adjustable strap:

  • the Soft Anti-Bite Dog Muzzle, from S to XXL, which its product page recommends for large dogs such as German Shepherds or Labradors;
  • the adjustable anti-bite muzzle for medium and larger dogs, from S to 3XL, recommended for shepherds, retrievers and Labradors;
  • the breathable anti-bite muzzle, in six colours, from S to XL;
  • the adjustable anti-bark muzzle, with clip, from XS to 3XL, in five colours including camouflage;
  • the comfort adjustable muzzle and collar, from S to XL, in orange, blue or red.

Muzzles for small dogs and short snouts

A dog with a short snout won’t fit a standard muzzle: they need a shape designed for them. The adjustable mesh Bulldog muzzle, in pink or blue, from S to L, is made for short snouts. For a small dog, the Duck Bill Muzzle for Small Dogs, beak-shaped, comes in S, M and L.

Which muzzle should you choose?

  • Walks and contact with other dogs: a breathable, adjustable mesh muzzle.
  • A dog who needs to be able to drink: the adjustable breathable mesh muzzle that lets them drink.
  • A dog who picks up everything on walks: a soft muzzle that covers the snout well.
  • Bulldog and short snout: the Bulldog muzzle.
  • Small dog: the duck-bill muzzle or an XS muzzle.
  • Large dog, shepherd or Labrador: the soft models from XL to 3XL.

Measuring your dog’s snout properly

Measure the length of the snout, from the tip of the nose to where the forehead starts between the eyes, then the circumference of the snout, mouth closed, halfway along. Compare with the size chart on each product page. Once fitted, the muzzle should neither touch the eyes nor slip down the nose, and you should be able to slide a finger under the neck strap.

Getting your dog used to wearing a muzzle

A dog accepts a muzzle more easily if they discover it without pressure. First offer it open, with a treat at the bottom, without fastening it. Then fasten it for a few seconds, and gradually increase the wearing time at home, always with a reward. Only go out with it once your dog wears it without trying to take it off. Never leave a muzzled dog alone or unsupervised, and take the muzzle off in hot weather as soon as it’s no longer needed.

FAQ

Is a dog muzzle compulsory?

In France, muzzles are compulsory in public places for dogs classed as category 1 and category 2. For other dogs, one may be required on public transport or at the vet.

Can a dog drink while wearing a muzzle?

It depends on the model. Among our dog muzzles, only the adjustable breathable mesh muzzle is described on its listing as letting your dog pant and drink. With a more closed design, take it off so he can drink.

Which dog muzzle stops biting?

A soft muzzle that covers the whole snout and fits well, like the anti-bite models in our range.
