Cat bed

Cat beds at a range of prices

Giving your cat a bed means giving it a sleeping spot of its own, a resting place where it can sleep safely. The range brings together thirty-seven products: enclosed beds and cocoons for hiding, round baskets, raised beds, furniture beds with a play area, sofas and cooling beds for hot weather. Many can be shared with a small dog. The right choice depends on how your companion sleeps, how much space you have and the season.

Enclosed beds and cocoons, for the cat that hides

Many cats like to sleep under cover, in a space where they feel safe. For them, an enclosed or semi-enclosed bed offers both comfort and rest:

• the Cat Bed, Cosy Fleece, a soft fur igloo bed, in three sizes and four colours;
• the Zen Cocoon nest, which your cat uses as a hiding place;
• the sleeping bag bed, in pink, blue or yellow, that it slips into;
• the cosy tent for cats and small dogs, in M, L or XL, for winter;
• the winter cocoon, with a non-slip base and washable cushion, in three colours;
• the striped semi-enclosed bed, in soft polyester, with a reversible cushion;
• the plush honey pot basket, for hiding and sleeping.

Round baskets and open beds

For a cat that sleeps curled up or sprawled out, a round bed with raised sides does the job. The popcorn model has memory foam, the noodle bowl is in cotton polypropylene, and the woven one with ears and tail comes from S to L, in beige, grey or green. The thick plush round bed, the frog, the polka dot model and the banana-shaped bed also suit a small dog. For more models of this type, see our section cat bed.

Raised beds: hammock and window bed

Plenty of cats like to sleep up high, where they can keep watch over the house. The Braided Rope Hanging Cat Hammock, is in woven linen, in two diameters. The Wooden Hanging Window Cat Bed fits on the sill, with a soft cushion, for sleeping in the sun and looking outside.

Furniture beds, play and rest

Some cat beds double as furniture or a play area:

• the Felt Cat Tunnel Bed, on two levels, for playing and sleeping;
• the plush tunnel and basket, with two entrances and a washable cushion;
• the two-level cube house, with a scratcher and a dangling toy;
• the retro television-shaped house, in natural wood, with a washable cushion and a hanging ball;
• the basket that doubles as a side table, in metal and black polyester;
• the bed with a built-in scratcher.

Sofas and large beds to share with a dog

If your cat shares its bed with a dog, or likes to sprawl out, choose a sofa or a rectangular bed: the natural rattan sofa, rated up to 11 kg on its product page; the waterproof faux leather sofa, with a non-slip base; the checked plush, floral print or striped double-cushion sofas; the all-comfort or Oxford fabric rectangular bed; the orthopaedic bed with backrest and the orthopaedic sofa in 25D foam, for large sizes. Find more models in our Cat sofas.

When it's hot: cooling beds

When it's hot, a cat abandons its usual bed for a cool surface. The rectangular cooling bed, from M to XXL, the padded cooling mat, which works without water or electricity according to its product page, the oval cooling mattress, the cooling sofa in breathable fabric and the breathable woven basket take over. A soft faux fur mat, light and washable, completes the choice for the floor.

Which cat bed should you choose?

• Cat that hides to sleep: an igloo bed, a cocoon or a tent.
• Cat that sleeps curled up: a round basket with raised sides.
• Cat that loves heights: the hammock or the window bed.
• Playful or young cat: a furniture bed with a tunnel or scratcher.
• Cat and dog together: a sofa or a large rectangular bed.
• Hot weather: a cooling bed.

For the size, measure your cat asleep, from nose to the base of the tail, and compare with the dimensions on each product page: it should be able to stretch out or curl up without spilling over. An older cat will appreciate a low bed it can climb into without jumping.

Where should you put your cat's bed?

A cat often chooses a quiet spot, out of the way, a little high up or near a source of warmth. Put its new bed where it already sleeps rather than imposing another one: the living room, the bedroom, near a window. Every cat has its habits, and your companion will feel safe much sooner in a place it knows. An item of clothing that smells of you helps it take to a new bed. Keep its bed away from its litter tray and its bowl. Wash the cover or cushion according to the product page.

Bed, basket or cushion?

A cat bed has sides or a roof that wrap around your cat; a cushion, lying flat, lets it sprawl and is easy to move. For a simpler bed, see our cushions for your cat, and for a kitten, the cat cave bed.

To complete the look

Around its bed, think about a water fountain and a cat toy; for outings, a cat harness. See also the range cat baskets and beds, and for the household dog, our section dog bed. Everything else is in our cat supplies.
