A dog doesn't need lots of accessories, but it does need the right ones. Three moments come round every day — going out, resting, eating — and that's where both its comfort and yours are decided. Everything else comes after.
For a dog that can no longer manage the whole walk on foot, our dog prams and trolleys fold up and store away once the walk is over.
Going out: harnesses, leads, collars and long lines
The harness has replaced the collar for most owners, for a mechanical reason: it spreads the pull across the chest and shoulders, where a dog is built to pull, instead of pressing on the windpipe. A dog that pulls, a puppy learning to walk on a lead, a short-nosed breed: in all three cases it's no longer a preference, it's a necessity. Fit matters as much as the model — two fingers should slide under each strap.
In rainy weather, going out takes some preparation too: ponchos, hooded coats and full-body suits are among our dog raincoats.
The dog lead , kept short, gives you control in town, while the long line of five to ten metres is used to work on recall without letting the dog off for good. The
collar keeps its role as tag holder and ID, and the GPS collar takes over for a dog that wanders off or chases.
For ID, our dog tags include personalised designs, light-up pendants and decorative charms to hang on the collar.
Resting: dog beds, cushions, sofas and kennels
A dog sleeps between twelve and fourteen hours a day: its
dog bed isn't a piece of decor, it's where it spends half its life. Two criteria are enough to decide — size, as the dog must be able to stretch out with legs extended, and maintenance, because a cover that doesn't come off soon becomes a problem.
If your current bed lacks padding, our dog mattresses include plush models, some with neck support or cooling for summer.
A dog that curls up in a ball is happy with a
cushion – one that sleeps with its head resting is better supported by a raised-edge dog bed. For a sheltered outdoor spot, the shelter remains the only answer when the dog spends long hours outside.
Between the cushion and the raised-edge bed, our dog sofas with backrests offer support for a dog that likes to sleep with its head resting.
Eating, playing, burning off energy
A dog bowl that's non-slip and at the right height stops a large dog eating with its head too low, and a slow feeder bowl slows down one that gulps without chewing. For keeping busy, the toy
is as much about burning energy as keeping the jaws of a dog left alone busy — a one-piece model with no detachable parts for unsupervised moments.
To slow down mealtimes or keep a dog busy on its own, our dog lick mats in silicone attach with suction cups or double as a slow feeder bowl.
Care and protection
The grooming kit is chosen by coat, not by breed: a slicker brush gets beneath the top layer of long hair, where knots form, while a rubber curry brush catches what a comb lets slip through on a short coat. Regular brushing mainly limits knots that pull on the skin.
Slicker brushes, self-cleaning models or de-shedding gloves: compare our dog grooming brushes according to the coat you need to care for.
A coat makes sense for short-haired dogs in winter, and a carrier is chosen first by weight: beyond around ten kilos, a backpack no longer makes sense.
For a dog under that weight, our dog backpack carriers come in breathable mesh, padded versions or with a clear bubble window.
