No more carrying him in your arms — he climbs up by himself, ten times a day, without waiting for you

He actually uses it — a gentle slope and enough width: that's what gets a dog to step on

He doesn't slip halfway up — a grippy surface, even with damp paws

Description
Wall-mounted cat perch made of natural wood and jute rope. It gives height — what an indoor cat really needs — without taking up any floor space. The fixings must suit your wall, and the depth decides whether your cat lies down on it or just stands.

Cat perch: height where there's no room for a tree

In a small flat, a cat tree takes up space you don't always have. A wall perch solves the problem: it provides height, which is the real need, without taking up a square metre of floor.

Height isn't a feline whim: it's where a cat keeps watch from, and a cat with no high point stays on its guard all the time. What matters is how it's fixed, and that's how we choose our cat perches.

Wall fixings, load and depth: what to check

This one is made of natural wood and jute rope. Angled 4-level wall steps, 40 × 20.5 cm — depth decides comfort: under about twenty centimetres, a cat will stand on it but won't lie down. Above all, check that the fixings suit your wall: a plasterboard plug won't hold the same load as an anchor set in concrete. A round wooden wall platform for cats hung on the window saves you drilling.

  • Check your wall type before buying — a plasterboard plug won't hold a jumping cat
  • Allow at least twenty centimetres of depth — this model measures 40 × 20.5 cm
  • Space the steps thirty to forty centimetres apart to create a usable route
  • Always plan a way down — a cat climbs up far better than it comes down
  • Test the load by pressing down hard before letting your cat up
  • Caring for the surface: clean with a dry cloth, avoid water

At what height, and how to build a route

A route is built from the bottom up, with steps spaced thirty to forty centimetres apart, and ends near a window. The highest point should be the deepest: that's where your cat will sleep.

Always plan a step-by-step way down: a cat climbs with confidence and comes down much less well, especially as it gets older. If drilling isn't an option in your home, a window hammock with suction cups does a similar job.

A common design mistake: lining the steps up vertically, like a ladder. The cat then has to jump straight up, which takes a lot of push and becomes impossible for an older cat. Always offset them sideways, in a zigzag — the climb becomes a walk, not a series of jumps.

FAQ

Dog stairs or ramp?

Stairs take up less space and suit most pets. A ramp is the better choice for a dog with arthritis or a large breed, where repeatedly bending the back legs is exactly what you want to avoid.

What are the exact dimensions?

40 × 20.5 cm. This is the measurement to check against your pet's build: with this kind of accessory, any mismatch shows straight away in use.

Will my pet use it straight away?

Rarely on day one. Guide them with a treat, one step at a time, over two or three short sessions. Most dogs take to it in under a week.

What is it made of?

Natural wood and jute rope. It's this material mix that sets the care routine: check the specifications for the right way to wash it.
