A long line is the recall tool. It gives your dog enough freedom to wander off and come back, while keeping a physical link: you never reward a failed recall, and your dog never gets into the habit of not coming back.

Five metres is the training length: enough to give them room, short enough to stay manageable on a walk. It's the most popular size among our 15m long lines.

The right method is to let it trail on the ground and only pick it up when needed: your dog forgets it's attached, and you can still stop them. Call, reward, release — and never call them back just to end the walk.
