They gain some height — a lookout post, which counts double in a multi-pet home

They let off steam without climbing the curtains — a support of their own absorbs the energy that went into the furniture

Your sofa stops paying the price — cats scratch to mark and keep their claws in shape: give them a better-placed option and they drop the sofa

Description
Cat tree made of 12 mm pine wood and polyester fibre. It gives an indoor cat the height it lacks: a lookout post and somewhere to scratch at full stretch. It's the stability of the base, not the height, that decides whether your cat takes to it.

Cat scratchers and cat trees: height, scratching and a lookout

A cat keeps watch from up high: on the floor, it stays on its guard, and you can see it in the way it sleeps with one eye open. In a flat, height is almost always lacking, and that lack is what causes the night-time zoomies and the leaps onto furniture.

A cat tree gives back what indoor life takes away: a lookout post, a place of its own, and something to scratch standing up at full stretch. Stability matters more than looks, and that's how we choose our cat scratchers and cat trees.

Stability, sisal posts and platforms: what really matters

This one is made of 12 mm pine wood and polyester fibre. Wall structure with 4 levels, non-slip platforms and scratching posts, total height 125 cm, platforms Ø 35 cm / 36.5 cm / 27 cm, posts Ø 7.6 cm — height matters, but the base matters more: a tree that wobbles on the first jump stops being used, and no cat goes back to it. Look at the posts too: sisal grips the claws, carpet frays without satisfying them. If your cat scratches more than it climbs, a cat tree with hammock, tunnel and sisal scratching posts is enough and takes up less space.

  • Check the width of the base before the height: a cat tree that tips over is never used again
  • Place it near a window — watching the outside world is half the appeal
  • Allow one top platform per cat if you have several — they don't share the summit
  • Choose sisal posts — this model is made of 12 mm pine wood and polyester fibre
  • Measure your ceiling height before ordering — this one measures total height 125 cm, platforms Ø 35 cm / 36.5 cm / 27 cm, posts Ø 7.6 cm
  • Effortless care: wipe with a dry cloth, avoid prolonged damp

Where to put it in a flat

Location matters as much as the model. Near a window, on a route it already uses, never in a closed room nobody goes into: an isolated cat tree stays empty even if it's perfect. The corner of the living room with a view of the street is almost always the right spot.

Don't put it right against a radiator or above a heat source — the cat will avoid it in summer. And if the main goal is to save the sofa, a cat scratcher placed in front of the targeted furniture will work better than a tree at the other end of the room.

Something people tend to underestimate: a cat climbs up happily, but comes down badly. Check there's a step-by-step way down, with no jump of more than fifty centimetres. Very tall trees with plenty of tiers at the bottom are the ones an older cat keeps using.

FAQ

Will it stop my cat scratching the sofa?

In most cases, as long as you place the scratcher near the scratched area and make the sofa less tempting for the first few days. A scratcher at the other end of the room changes nothing.

What are the exact dimensions?

Total height 125 cm, platforms Ø 35 cm / 36.5 cm / 27 cm, posts Ø 7.6 cm. Check this measurement against the spot you have in mind before ordering: it's the one that causes the most returns when it's only read afterwards.

Is it stable enough for a large cat?

Check the base weight in the specifications: that's what determines stability, not height. A scratcher that tips over once will never be used again.

What is it made of?

12 mm pine wood and polyester fibre. It's this material mix that sets the care routine: check the specifications for the right way to wash it.
