They stretch out to full length — tall enough for them to stand fully upright, which a low scratcher doesn't allow

It doesn't tip at the first jump — wide, weighted base: a support that wobbles stops being used

They gain some height — a lookout post, which counts double in a multi-pet home

Description
Cat tree made of particleboard, polyester, sisal rope. It gives an indoor cat the height it's missing: a lookout post and somewhere to scratch at full stretch. It's the stability of the base, not the height, that decides whether it gets used.

Cat tree for indoor cats short on height

A cat keeps watch from up high: on the floor, it stays on its guard, and you can see it in the way it sleeps with one eye open. In a flat, height is almost always lacking, and that lack is what causes the night-time zoomies and the leaps onto furniture.

A cat tree gives back what indoor life takes away: a lookout post, a place of its own, and something to scratch standing up at full stretch. Stability matters more than looks, and that's how we choose our cat trees.

Arbre à Chat Cactus Multi-Niveaux avec Niches et Jouets

Stability, platforms and posts: what decides how it's used

This one is made of particleboard, polyester, sisal rope. Cactus design with two condos, perches, ramp, scratching posts and hanging toys, 48.5 cm (L) × 48.5 cm (W) × 138 cm (H) — height matters, but the base matters more: a tree that wobbles on the first jump stops being used, and no cat goes back to it. Look at the posts too: sisal grips the claws, carpet frays without satisfying them. If your cat scratches more than it climbs, a Mushroom Cat Tree 4-in-1 with Cat House and Sisal Scratching Post is enough and takes up less space.

  • Check the width of the base before the height: a cat tree that tips over is never used again
  • Place it near a window — watching the outside world is half the appeal
  • Allow one top platform per cat if you have several — they don't share the summit
  • Go for sisal posts — this model is made of particleboard, polyester, sisal rope
  • Measure your ceiling height before ordering — this one measures 48.5 cm (L) × 48.5 cm (W) × 138 cm (H)
  • Easy to look after: dust regularly and wipe gently with a dry cloth. Avoid damp and heat sources

Where to put it in a flat

Location matters as much as the model. Near a window, on a route it already uses, never in a closed room nobody goes into: an isolated cat tree stays empty even if it's perfect. The corner of the living room with a view of the street is almost always the right spot.

Don't put it right against a radiator or above a heat source — the cat will avoid it in summer. And if the main goal is to save the sofa, a cat scratcher placed in front of the targeted furniture will work better than a tree at the other end of the room.

Something people tend to underestimate: a cat climbs up happily, but comes down badly. Check there's a step-by-step way down, with no jump of more than fifty centimetres. Very tall trees with plenty of tiers at the bottom are the ones an older cat keeps using.

FAQ

Will my cat really use it?

It will if it's in the right spot: cats scratch when they wake from a nap and near walkways. Put it next to their bed or the living room door, not in an unused corner.

What are the exact dimensions?

48.5 cm (L) × 48.5 cm (W) × 138 cm (H). Check this measurement against the spot you have in mind before ordering: it's the one that causes the most returns when it's only read afterwards.

Can the sisal be replaced?

On post models, yes: the rope can be wound back around the post. On cardboard scratchers, the pad flips over once worn, which doubles its lifespan.

What is it made of?

Particleboard, polyester, sisal rope. It's this material mix that sets the care routine: check the specifications for the right way to wash it.
