Description
Wall-mounted cat perch made of natural solid wood with sisal rope on the scratching post. It gives height — what an indoor cat really needs — without taking up any floor space. The fixings must suit your wall, and the depth decides whether your cat lies down on it or just stands.

Cat perch: height where there's no room for a tree

In a small flat, a cat tree takes up space you don't always have. A wall perch solves the problem: it provides height, which is the real need, without taking up a square metre of floor.

Height isn't a feline whim: it's where a cat keeps watch from, and a cat with no high point stays on its guard all the time. What matters is how it's fixed, and that's how we choose our cat perches.

Wall fixings, load and depth: what to check

This one is made of natural solid wood with sisal rope on the scratching post. Wall set with 1 house, 2 shelves, 1 scratching post and 1 hanging bridge, depending on set-up: house 34 × 34 cm, shelves 30 cm, bridge 80 cm, post 40 cm — depth decides comfort: under about twenty centimetres, a cat will stand on it but won't lie down. Above all, check that the fixings suit your wall: a plasterboard plug won't hold the same load as an anchor set in concrete. A solid wood corner wall perch for cats hung on the window saves you drilling.

  • Check your wall type before buying — a plasterboard plug won't hold a jumping cat
  • Allow at least twenty centimetres of depth — this model measures depending on set-up: house 34 × 34 cm, shelves 30 cm, bridge 80 cm, post 40 cm
  • Space the steps thirty to forty centimetres apart to create a usable route
  • Always plan a way down — a cat climbs up far better than it comes down
  • Test the load by pressing down hard before letting your cat up
  • Caring for the surface: wipe with a dry cloth, avoid prolonged exposure to damp

At what height, and how to build a route

A route is built from the bottom up, with steps spaced thirty to forty centimetres apart, and ends near a window. The highest point should be the deepest: that's where your cat will sleep.

Always plan a step-by-step way down: a cat climbs with confidence and comes down much less well, especially as it gets older. If drilling isn't an option in your home, a window cat hammock with suction cups does a similar job.

A common design mistake: lining the steps up vertically, like a ladder. The cat then has to jump straight up, which takes a lot of push and becomes impossible for an older cat. Always offset them sideways, in a zigzag — the climb becomes a walk, not a series of jumps.

FAQ

Can the sisal be replaced?

On post models, yes: the rope can be wound back around the post. On cardboard scratchers, the pad flips over once worn, which doubles its lifespan.

What are the exact dimensions?

Depending on the set-up: house 34 × 34 cm, shelves 30 cm, bridge 80 cm, post 40 cm. Check this measurement against the spot you have in mind before ordering: it's the one that causes the most returns when it's only read afterwards.

Will it stop my cat scratching the sofa?

In most cases, as long as you place the scratcher near the scratched area and make the sofa less tempting for the first few days. A scratcher at the other end of the room changes nothing.

What is it made of?

Natural solid wood with sisal rope for scratching. It's this material mix that sets the care routine: check the specifications for the right way to wash it.
