Pet water fountains for cats at a range of prices
A pet water fountain keeps water moving constantly instead of leaving it to stand in a bowl. Our range brings together USB electric fountains, rechargeable cordless fountains, stainless steel fountains and electricity-free dispensers that also serve dry food. To choose well, look at three things: capacity, bowl material and filter type.
Simple, compact USB water fountains
These fountains plug into a USB port and suit a single cat or a small dog:
- the 1.8L clear dual-mode fountain, with a double jet, filtered water and a visible reservoir;
- the Smart Cube 3L fountain, quiet, with smart filtration, in white or blue;
- the 1.5L USB fountain, green, with a smooth, quiet flow that its product page presents as encouraging your cat to drink more;
- the snail design fountain, in orange or blue ABS plastic, quiet;
- the black 2.2L USB fountain, ultra-quiet, with multi-layer filtration;
- the automatic 3L USB fountain, with continuous flow, in white or dark blue.
Stainless steel water fountains
A stainless steel bowl replaces plastic where it touches the water. Several models come in packs with replacement filters:
Cordless and sensor fountains
With no cable, the fountain can sit far from a socket. These models run on a battery and are rechargeable:
All the battery-powered models are grouped together in our Cordless cat water fountain.
Electricity-free water and food dispensers
A gravity dispenser keeps a reserve of water with no pump or cable, handy for a few days away or as a second drinking spot for your cat:
Which pet water fountain should you choose for your cat?
- One cat, a small budget: a 1.5 to 3L USB fountain, such as the Smart Cube or the clear fountain.
- You prefer stainless steel to plastic: the 2.2L or the 3.2L stainless steel fountain, with replacement filters in a pack.
- No socket near the ideal spot: a cordless sensor fountain, which only runs when your cat approaches if you choose that mode.
- Several cats, or a cat and a dog: a large capacity, such as the 3.2L fountain, the double fountain or the 7L fountain.
- Away for a few days: a gravity water dispenser, very handy as a back-up.
Looking after a water fountain
A fountain stays clean if you empty and rinse it thoroughly and regularly, taking apart the bowl, pump and lid according to the instructions. Change the filter as often as the manufacturer recommends: that’s why packs with 4 or 8 filters are available. Always fill it with fresh water, and check the level so the pump never runs dry.
FAQs about pet water fountains for cats
What’s the best water fountain for a cat?
The one your cat uses. A single cat is fine with a 1.5 to 3L fountain; several animals need a bigger reservoir. A cordless fountain can go wherever your cats like to drink.
Are water fountains good for cats?
Several product pages in the range present moving water as an incentive to drink. A pet water fountain also keeps the water filtered, provided you change the filters.
What are the downsides of a cat water fountain?
It needs regular cleaning, replacement filters, a socket or recharging for electric models, and it costs more than a bowl. Some cats take a few days to get used to it: leave the old bowl next to it at first.
