Description
Dog water fountain in food-grade plastic. Moving water seems fresher and safer to a dog, so they drink more. After that, it all comes down to upkeep: a poorly cleaned fountain is worse than a plain bowl.

Dog water fountain for dogs that don't drink enough

Many dogs drink less than they need, especially those fed only on dry kibble. Mild chronic dehydration wears out the kidneys over time, and it doesn't show for years.

Running water is more appealing than still water: it's instinct — moving water seems fresher and safer. A fountain gets your dog drinking more without changing anything else, and that's the whole point of our dog water fountains.

Flow, filter and noise: what matters day to day

This one is made of food-grade plastic. Rectangular with U-shaped spout, 15.5 × 11 × 12 cm — match the capacity to your dog's size: a large dog can empty three litres on a summer's day, and a pump that runs dry burns out. Noise matters too — a loud fountain in the living room ends up unplugged. Keep a automatic water or kibble dispenser for small dogs or cats as a back-up, too.

  • Match the capacity to your dog's size — this fountain: 15.5 × 11 × 12 cm
  • Never let the pump run dry — that's what burns it out
  • Change the filter every two to four weeks, or the dog water fountain will dirty the water
  • Take the pump apart and clean it once a month — that's where biofilm builds up
  • Rinse and wipe the whole system: easy-access tank – easy to clean
  • Check the noise level — a loud fountain ends up unplugged

Looking after it, and why it's the critical point

Upkeep is the real issue: a poorly cleaned fountain is worse than a bowl. Biofilm builds up in the pump and in the corners, and the water that comes out is less clean than a plain bowl refreshed every day.

Allow for a full strip-down once a month and a filter change every two to four weeks. If that sounds like too much, a dog bowl washed daily is still an excellent choice.

A handy guide to intake: a dog drinks around fifty millilitres per kilo per day, more in summer or on a dry diet. Mark the level on the tank in the morning and check it in the evening — it's the simplest way to spot a drop, which is often the first sign of a health problem.

FAQ

How often should you change the filter?

Every three to four weeks with normal use, more often with several pets. A clogged filter lets hairs through and gums up the pump.

What are the exact dimensions?

15.5 × 11 × 12 cm. Check this measurement against the spot you have in mind before ordering: it's the one that causes the most returns when it's only read afterwards.

Why a fountain rather than a bowl?

Cats drink little and prefer moving water. A fountain noticeably increases how much they drink, which matters for the kidneys and urinary tract.

What is it made of?

Food-grade plastic. It's this material mix that sets the care routine: check the specifications for the right way to wash it.
