Dog blanket: protects the sofa and keeps your dog warm

A dog blanket solves two problems at once: it gives your dog a spot that smells of them, and it takes the hair, drool and mud the sofa used to soak up. It's often the purchase that ends the sofa war, without banning anyone from anything.

Choose by use: warmth for a dog that gets cold at night, waterproofing for the boot and outings. You don't always get both, and that's what sets our dog blankets.

Fleece, sherpa or waterproof: which one for which use

This one is made of polyester. Rectangle, 95 x 65 cm — measure the area to cover before ordering: a blanket that's too small slips, your dog ends up on the upholstery anyway, and the whole point is lost. If your dog mainly wants a bed of their own rather than furniture protection, take a look at the soft patterned dog blanket.

  • Lay it on their usual spot on the sofa rather than banning them from it
  • Measure before ordering — this one measures 95 x 65 cm
  • Wash it without worry: hand wash recommended
  • Take it in the car: it protects the back seat and comforts with its familiar smell
  • Get two to rotate: a dog blanket washed every week lasts much longer
  • Choose the material to suit the season — this one is polyester

Washing, storing and making a dog blanket last

A blanket gets washed often — that's the whole point: it takes the hit instead of the sofa. Shake it outside before it goes in the machine; the hair comes off better and won't clog the filter. Skip the fabric softener, which leaves a scent many dogs avoid.

It isn't a bed: laid straight on tiles, it doesn't insulate from cold or hard floors, and an older or arthritic dog will feel it. For them, a dog mattress with real thickness makes a genuine difference to their nights.

One detail that makes all the difference: always put it in the same place. A blanket that moves every day never gets adopted, whereas in the same spot on the sofa or in the bed it becomes, within a week, the place your dog heads to on their own.

FAQ

Which size should I choose?

Measure your pet lying stretched out, from nose to the base of the tail, and add about ten centimetres. A bed that's too snug won't get used; too big and it loses its reassuring feel.

What is it made of?

Polyester. It's this material mix that sets the care routine: check the specifications for the right way to wash it.

Is it machine washable?

Models with a removable cover, yes, at 30 °C. For the others, hand washing and drying flat stop the filling clumping.

Will my pet take to it?

Put it where they already choose to sleep, and lay a cloth with their scent on it for the first few days. A bed set up in a room they don't use stays empty.
