This one is made of polyester. Rectangular, with backrest and armrests, one size — measure your dog stretched out, then add room for the armrests, which take up a real share of the stated surface. A seat that squashes flat turns the sofa into a mere mat within two months. Check the cover comes off completely. For a dog that likes to sprawl, a flat cooling dog and cat sofa in breathable fabric will be more comfortable.

Placing it, and getting them to use it

A dog takes to a bed placed where they already slept, not where the furniture looks nice. Watch for a few days: they almost always have one or two favourite spots, where they can see the room and the door. That's where it should go.

Add a blanket on top from day one: it catches hair and dust, and washes without removing the cover. For a dog that prefers to sleep flat and cool, a firm mattress will suit better.

One thing people always forget: the entry height. For an older or arthritic dog, a twenty-centimetre edge to step over is enough for the bed never to be used. A comfy seat never makes up for an entry that's too high.

FAQ

Is it machine washable?

Models with a removable cover, yes, at 30 °C. For the others, hand washing and drying flat stop the filling clumping.

Does the colour make any difference?

No: White, Green and Yellow share the same dimensions and finish. The choice is purely aesthetic.

Will my pet take to it?

Put it where they already choose to sleep, and lay a cloth with their scent on it for the first few days. A bed set up in a room they don't use stays empty.

Is it suitable for an older pet?

Check the thickness of the filling: above eight centimetres it genuinely relieves the joints. Below that, it's a mat, not a mattress.
