Getting a cat in without a fight

The rule that sorts everything: the carrier mustn't only come out on vet days. Left open in the living room with a blanket inside, it becomes a bed – and your cat walks in on his own on appointment day.

If he still refuses, take the top off, place him inside and close it, rather than pushing him through the door. And for trips on foot or by public transport, a cat backpack carrier is far more comfortable to carry.

One small step that changes the journey: cover the carrier with a towel while travelling. A cat who watches the world go by without being able to react is permanently stressed; in the dark, most settle down and stop meowing within a few minutes.

FAQ

How do I clean it?

Run the vacuum over it after every journey, and machine wash at 30 °C when the model allows. Dry flat, never in the tumble dryer.

Which size should I choose?

This model comes in M and L. Measure the space you have in mind and, for a bed, your pet's length lying down plus about ten centimetres. Too snug and it won't get used; too big and it loses its reassuring feel.

Do I have to restrain my pet in the car?

The law requires that your pet doesn't distract you while driving. In practice, a loose dog becomes a projectile under braking: restraint protects the passengers as much as it does your dog.

Does the colour make any difference?
