His eyes are protected in the car — a dog who sticks his head out gets insects and grit full in the face

They stay on when he shakes his head — double strap, head and neck — one alone is never enough

Cat glasses in lightweight plastic, a photo and fancy-dress accessory. They correct nothing and are only worn for a few minutes, under supervision: the adjustable elastic is what keeps them in place.

Cat sunglasses: a photo accessory, not vision correction

Let's be clear from the start: cat sunglasses are a dress-up and photo accessory, not a vision aid. They're for photo shoots, social posts and birthday cards — and they should only be worn for a few minutes, under supervision.

What separates a usable accessory from one that ends up under the sofa is the elastic and the weight. Too heavy and it slips; too tight and your cat gets rid of it in three seconds. That's the criterion for our cat glasses.

Frame, elastic and size: what stays on a cat

These are made of lightweight plastic. Rigid frame with heart-shaped lenses, 8 × 7.5 × 3 cm — check the width between the ears, it's the measurement that decides the fit. Adjustable elastic beats fixed elastic: cats' heads vary far more than dogs'. To round off a photo shoot, try the stylish triangle sunglasses for cats and small dogs often stays on better than a pair of glasses.

Keep them for a few minutes of photos, never for extended wear
Adjust the elastic without tightening: two fingers should fit under the strap
Take them off immediately if your cat freezes or backs away — it's a sign of stress, not shyness
Check the width between the ears — this model: 8 × 7.5 × 3 cm
Clean the frame between uses: wipe clean with a soft dry cloth
Set up the photo BEFORE putting them on — the window of cooperation rarely lasts a minute

How long to leave them on, and how to photograph your cat

The right method comes down to three points: prepare everything beforehand, put the accessory on at the last moment, and reward straight away. A cat rarely cooperates for more than a minute, and pushing for a second minute will cost you the next ten sessions.

Never leave a cat alone with glasses on its head: the elastic catches and panic does the rest. If you're looking for an accessory that stays on better and longer for photos, take a look at our cat caps.

A photography tip: shoot at cat height, not from above. Seen from above, the accessory squashes the head and the picture disappoints whatever the model; at their level, the frame stands out and their eyes stay visible.

FAQ

What if I have several cats?

Plan one per cat for anything to do with resting, eating and toileting. Forced sharing is the number one cause of tension in a multi-cat home.

What are the exact dimensions?

8 × 7.5 × 3 cm. Check this measurement against your pet's build: with this kind of accessory, any mismatch shows straight away in use.

How do I care for it?

Warm soapy water, with no scented products: a cat's sense of smell is far keener than ours, and a whiff of detergent is enough to make it avoid something it was using the day before.

What is it made of?

Lightweight plastic. This composition determines the care: check the specifications for the right washing method.
