Placing it, and getting them to use it

A dog takes to a bed placed where they already slept, not where the furniture looks nice. Watch for a few days: they almost always have one or two favourite spots, where they can see the room and the door. That's where it should go.

Add a blanket on top from day one: it catches hair and dust, and washes without removing the cover. For a dog that prefers to sleep flat and cool, a firm dog mattress will suit better.

How do I care for it?

Warm soapy water, with no scented products: a cat's sense of smell is far keener than ours, and a whiff of detergent is enough to make it avoid something it was using the day before.

Which size should I choose?

This model comes in M (71x58x18cm), L (91x68x18cm), XL (105x75x20cm) and XXL (127x91x20cm). Measure the space you have in mind and, for a bed, your pet's length lying down plus about ten centimetres. Too snug and it won't get used; too big and it loses its reassuring feel.

Will my cat accept it?

Cats accept what they discover on their own. Put the accessory in a room they use, without showing it to them, and give it two or three days before drawing any conclusions.

Is it suitable for an indoor cat?

That's actually its main use: an indoor cat spends most of the day alone, and boredom soon turns into scratched furniture or night-time wake-ups.
