He wears it comfortably — a cut that leaves his legs free and doesn't pinch under the armpits

It stays in place during the walk — fastenings made for a pet on the move, not for a photo

It really protects — paw pads and belly shielded from road salt and scorching tarmac

Upkeep won't take up your time — hand washing recommended. Air dry

Description
Cat booties made of 100% cotton sandwich mesh. Paw pads are sensors: covering them changes how a cat feels the floor, which is why booties are kept for specific uses — a dressing, a slippery wooden floor, protecting the sofa.

Cat booties: protecting the paw pads or the floor

A cat doesn't easily accept something on its paws: its pads are sensors, and covering them changes how it feels the floor. So booties have specific uses — protecting a dressing, stopping scratches on the sofa, steadying a cat that slips on a wooden floor.

They also help after a nail trim that went too short or a wound on a pad, while it heals. Keeping them on is the whole challenge, and that's what we look at in our cat boots.

Sole, elastic and fit: what stays on a cat's paw

These are made of 100% cotton sandwich mesh. Lightweight mesh boots with non-slip rubber sole, see size guide — measure the paw at rest, width and height up to the hock. Elastic that's too tight cuts off circulation within hours; too loose and the bootie comes off at the first step. A non-slip sole is what really helps on a slippery floor. Sometimes softer options such as pair of summer clogs for cats and small dogs – non-slip mini sandals work better.

  • Measure the paw at rest — this model: see size guide
  • Check circulation after an hour: a cold toe means the elastic is too tight
  • Start with a few minutes: a cat bootie forced on from the start is never accepted
  • Keep them for a specific use, not for wearing all the time
  • Wash them between uses: hand wash recommended. Air-dry
  • Choose a non-slip sole if the floor is slippery

Getting a cat used to wearing something on its paws

Go one paw at a time, for a few minutes, with a treat straight afterwards. A cat that walks shaking its paws or stays frozen isn't being difficult: it no longer knows where it's stepping. Take them off, try again later, never insist.

Never leave them on overnight or while you're out, and check the colour of the toes after the first hour. For simple indoor protection, socks without a sole are often better tolerated.

One use where they really prove themselves: the older cat that slips on wooden floors or tiles. Losing confidence when moving around is a real cause of inactivity in senior cats, and a non-slip sole often gives back access to places they had stopped going.

FAQ

Will my dog get used to it?

Within a few days, as long as you don't force it. Link the first encounter to something pleasant — a treat, a walk — rather than a moment of restraint.

Which size should I choose?

This model comes in XS, S, M, L and XL. Measure the space you have in mind and, for a bed, your pet's length lying stretched out plus about ten centimetres. Too snug and it won't get used; too big and it loses its reassuring feel.

Is it sturdy enough for an active dog?

Check the stated material: nylon and dense rubber can take it, thin fabric and plush can't. With a dog that chews, nothing replaces keeping an eye on things for the first few days.

What is it made of?

100% cotton sandwich mesh. This material determines how to care for it: see the specifications for the right way to wash it.
