Description
Cat jumper in 100% polyester knit. It's for hairless breeds and for cats that are shaved, recovering from surgery or very old. What matters most is a free shoulder: a cat whose shoulder blade is restricted simply refuses to walk.

Cat jumpers: which cats really need one

Most cats need nothing: their fur is more than enough. A jumper is for specific cases — Sphynx and hairless breeds, cats fresh from a clip or surgery, very old cats that no longer regulate their temperature, and thin cats recovering from illness.

For them, heat loss is real and visible: they seek out radiators and sleep curled up tight. The garment then has to keep them warm without restricting them, and that's the whole point of our cat jumpers.

Neckline, length and shoulder freedom: what to check

This one is made of 100% polyester knit. Black hoodie with printed lettering on the back, 5 sizes available – for toy to small breeds – measure the back length from neck to base of tail, plus the chest girth. The shoulder must stay completely free: a cat with a restricted shoulder blade refuses to walk, flattens itself to the floor and won't budge. For outdoors or damp cold, a cable-knit jumper for dogs and cats – warm, 7 colours will suit better.

  • Keep it for hairless, shaved, post-op or very old cats — others don't need one
  • Measure the back length from neck to tail – this model: 5 sizes available – for toy to small breeds
  • Check that the shoulder moves freely — that's what makes cats refuse any garment
  • Choose a wide neckline: a tight collar makes a cat panic
  • Clean it regularly: dry clean only
  • Keep an eye on the skin under the cat jumper, especially after surgery

Getting a cat to accept clothing

A cat trying on clothes for the first time flattens itself or walks like a duck: that's normal for the first few minutes. Put the jumper on, distract your cat with a game or a treat, and take it off after two minutes. After three or four sessions, most forget it's there.

Never leave a dressed cat unsupervised: knit catches on everything, and a trapped cat panics. To protect a wound after surgery, a recovery cone or a surgical bodysuit is safer than a jumper. In damp weather, go for a cat coat.

One thing to watch after a clip: a shaved cat's skin catches the sun just like ours. A jumper protects as much from cold as from sunburn behind a patio window — exactly where cats spend their days.

FAQ

Does my dog really need a coat?

Short-haired dogs, small breeds and older dogs get cold quickly below 7 to 8 °C. A dog with a thick undercoat doesn't need one.

Which size should I choose?

This model comes in XS, S, M, L and XL. Go by your pet's measurements — chest girth and back length — rather than weight: two animals of the same weight don't have the same build. If you're between two sizes, go for the larger one.

Does it get in the way when he does his business?

Our models are cut away at the back. If your dog is male, check this in the photos: a cut-out that's too short is the classic flaw.

What is it made of?

100% knitted polyester. This composition determines the care: check the specifications for the right washing method.
