It stays in place during the walk — fastenings made for a pet on the move, not for a photo

It really protects — paw pads and belly shielded from road salt and scorching tarmac

Cat coat in 100% polyester with a faux sheepskin lining. Handy for cats that go out on a harness, hairless breeds, shaved cats and very old cats. The harness opening and freedom at the shoulder decide whether it actually gets worn.

Cat coat: for harness walks and hairless cats

A cat who goes out on a harness in winter, a Sphynx, a clipped or very old cat: those are the three cases where a coat makes sense. For everyone else, fur does the job far better than any garment.

The technical point is the opening for the harness attachment: without it, you have to undress the cat to clip it on, which defeats the purpose. It's what we check on all our cat coats.

Cut, opening and harness attachment: what matters

This one is made of 100% polyester with a faux sheepskin lining. Long-sleeved jacket with fleece collar, press studs and embroidered detail, available in several sizes for small dogs and cats – measure the back length from neck to base of tail, plus the chest girth. The shoulder must stay completely free: that's the restriction cats reject first, long before weight or warmth. For dry days indoors, a fluorescent dinosaur coat for dogs and cats – quirky winter look is enough and gets in the way less.

  • Look for the harness opening — without it you'll have to undress the cat every time you go out
  • Measure the back length from neck to tail – this model: Available in several sizes for small dogs and cats
  • Check the shoulder moves freely — it's the number one reason for refusal
  • Keep the cat coat for outings, never for wearing all the time
  • Air-dry it: hand wash only
  • Take it off when you get home — damp fabric left on the back irritates the skin

Getting a cat to accept a coat

Acceptance is built in two-minute sessions at home, with a game or a treat as a distraction. A cat that flattens itself or walks like a duck is discovering the sensation: that's normal the first few times and passes within three or four tries.

If it still refuses after a week, don't push — some cats will never accept anything on their back, and that's no problem. For the cold indoors, a jumper in a softer fabric often goes down better.

A habit to get into after every outing: slide your hand under the coat, at the base of the neck and between the front legs. If the fur is damp, take it off immediately and dry the cat. That's where moisture lingers most, and in cats it causes irritation in just two days.

FAQ

Does it get in the way when he does his business?

Our models are cut away at the back. If your dog is male, check this in the photos: a cut-out that's too short is the classic flaw.

Which size should I choose?

This model comes in XS, S, M, L and XL. Go by your pet's measurements — chest girth and back length — rather than weight: two animals of the same weight don't have the same build. If you're between two sizes, go for the larger one.

Is it machine washable?

At 30 °C, inside out, no tumble dryer: heat lifts the waterproof coatings. Hang it up to dry.

What is it made of?

100% polyester, faux sheepskin lining. This composition determines the care it needs: see the specifications for the right washing method.
