He finds it away from home too — it rolls up and comes along in the car, on holiday, to the vet's

He has a spot of his own in the room — a mat marks out a bed without cluttering the room

The floor stops chilling him — tiles draw heat from a pet lying on them, even in summer

Description
Dog car seat in nylon. It keeps your dog in one place during the journey and, for small dogs, raises them high enough to see out — which noticeably reduces car sickness.

Dog car seat: keeping your dog in place on the journey

A dog loose in the car becomes a projectile under braking, and a constant distraction the rest of the time. A car seat solves both: your dog is kept in one place, doesn't hop from side to side, and doesn't end up in the footwell at the first roundabout.

For small dogs, the booster also tackles car sickness: a dog that watches the scenery go by at window height is sick far less often than one sitting low on the back seat. It's a key criterion for our dog car seats.

Fixing, booster and tether: what to check

This one is made of nylon. Rectangular mat with raised sides, 155 x 105 x 75 cm (standard) — compare these measurements with your back seat and with your dog lying down: they need to be able to turn around and lie flat, not just sit. Above all, check how it attaches: that's what decides how well it holds on bends. A dog car seat cover with mesh window & pocket clipped to the seatbelt is a useful addition to the seat.

  • Always clip the tether to the HARNESS, never the collar: under braking, a collar chokes
  • Measure your dog lying down — seat size: 155 x 105 x 75 cm (standard)
  • Strap the seat in before putting your dog on it — a support that moves can scare them for good
  • Put it in the back: an airbag going off kills a dog sitting in the front
  • Clean the cover after muddy outings: wipe with a damp cloth or put it in the machine
  • Raise your dog up if they get car sick — seeing outside noticeably reduces vomiting

Getting your dog used to the car without fear

Many dogs aren't afraid of the car itself but of what comes next: if the only trip of the year is to the vet, they soon make the connection. A few short drives to somewhere fun are often enough to turn that around.

Never leave a dog alone in a parked car in hot weather, even with the windows slightly open and even for ten minutes. And if your dog travels straight on the back seat, a dog car harness is the bare minimum for safety.

One detail people often forget: where you put the seat changes how comfortable your dog is. Behind the passenger, they can see the road; in the middle, they get thrown from side to side on every bend. The same product makes for a completely different journey depending on where you strap it in.

FAQ

Which size should I choose?

Measure your pet lying stretched out, from nose to the base of the tail, and add about ten centimetres. A bed that's too snug won't get used; too big and it loses its reassuring feel.

What is it made of?

Nylon. It's this material mix that sets the care routine: check the specifications for the right way to wash it.

Is it machine washable?

Models with a removable cover, yes, at 30 °C. For the others, hand washing and drying flat stop the filling clumping.

Will my pet take to it?

Put it where they already choose to sleep, and lay a cloth with their scent on it for the first few days. A bed set up in a room they don't use stays empty.
