Your walls and furniture stay dry — it's the quarter of an hour after that soaks the house, not the bath itself

Dog drying robe: dry off after a bath without spending an hour on it

Towel-drying a dog takes ages and always ends the same way: they shake off in the hallway and go and rub themselves on the sofa. A drying robe changes the approach — you put it on, let it work, and your dog dries by itself.

It's especially useful on long coats and dense undercoats, which hold water for hours and stay soggy. A coat that dries badly is an open door to dermatitis. What counts is absorbency, and that's how we pick our dog drying robes.

Absorbency, fit and fastenings: what saves you time

This one is made of polyester (polyester fibre). Hooded robe with belly band, depending on chosen size (see variants) — measure the back length from the withers to the base of the tail. Microfibre absorbs several times its own weight and dries fast; cotton towelling absorbs well but stays heavy and is slow to dry itself. Check that the fastenings hold when your dog shakes off. For paws after a walk, our soft towelling robe for dogs and cats is all you need.

  • Put it on straight after the bath and leave it for ten minutes before rubbing
  • Measure the back length from withers to tail — this model: depending on chosen size (see variants)
  • Check that the fastenings hold when your dog shakes off, or the robe ends up on the floor
  • Dry skin folds and armpits thoroughly — lingering moisture causes dermatitis
  • Wash it after every use: hand wash or machine wash at a low temperature
  • Take it off once your dog is dry — damp fabric left on too long keeps the skin soggy

Using it after a bath, rain or a swim

After a bath, after a swim, after a walk in a downpour: in all three cases the goal is the same — stop moisture sitting at the roots of the coat. Ten minutes in the robe replace a quarter of an hour with a towel.

Take it off as soon as your dog is dry: kept damp, it encourages exactly what it was meant to prevent. And for nothing more than muddy paws after a walk, there's no need to get the robe out — our wipes does the job.

One area the robe doesn't cover and that always gets forgotten: the base of the ears and the folds of the neck. These are exactly the spots where moisture causes the most ear infections and irritation. A towel worked in there by hand is still essential, even with a robe.

FAQ

How do I care for it?

Warm soapy water and thorough drying before reuse. Avoid very hot water, which warps plastics and slackens straps.

Which size should I choose?

This model comes in S, M, L and XL. Measure the space you have in mind and, for a bed, your pet's length lying down plus about ten centimetres. Too snug and it won't get used; too big and it loses its reassuring feel.

Will my dog get used to it?

Within a few days, as long as you don't force it. Link the first encounter to something pleasant — a treat, a walk — rather than a moment of restraint.

What is it made of?

Polyester (polyester fibre). The material dictates the care, so check the specifications for the right way to wash it.
