This one is made of soft long-pile polyester. Where to put it, and which dogs it suits

It suits dogs who sleep curled up and medium-sized dogs. For a large, older or arthritic dog, a firm bed gives better support: softness feels comfortable but leaves the joints resting on the floor.

Put it where your dog already sleeps, out of the way of foot traffic. And if you're after real support rather than a nest, you need something like mattress with dense filling.

A density test that beats any description: press your fist, with all your weight, into the centre of the bean bag. If your fist reaches the floor, the filling won't support a dog through a whole night — and it will compact all the faster.

How do I clean it?

Warm soapy water and thorough drying for rubber and plastic; machine wash at 30 °C in a laundry bag for plush, as long as the seams are intact.

Which size should I choose?

This model comes in S (dia. 50cm), M (dia. 60cm), L (dia. 70cm), XL (dia. 90cm) and XXL (dia. 110cm). Measure the space you have in mind and, for a bed, your pet's length lying stretched out plus about ten centimetres. Too snug and it won't get used; too big and it loses its reassuring feel.

Will it stand up to a dog that chews?

No toy is indestructible. Dense rubber models last much longer than plush, but a determined chewer will get the better of them eventually: keep an eye on its condition and replace it before pieces come off.
